Attracting and engaging tech talent for Wren Kitchens

Wren Kitchens were a client of Searchability for many years, regularly engaging the recruitment team to find talented tech professionals to join them in their Barton-upon-Humber HQ. This background gave us both a great understanding of the challenges they faced in attracting talent, as well as the opportunities that Wren Kitchens could be using to increase direct candidate traffic.

The challenges:

  • Wren Kitchens is a nationally recognised brand, but not a brand name you would immediately associate with tech
  • They had a recruitment requirement including a high volume of software developers, a competitive candidatemarket in the UK
  • They needed tech talent on site in their HQ, which is in Barton-upon-Humber near Hull and therefore not a densely populated area for tech talent
  • They wanted candidates to have an insight into their culture from the point of application

What we did:

JobHoller Careers Hub

We built out a bespoke careers hub on JobHoller, separate from their primary careers website in order to tailor all content towards the tech team

Tech Team Twitter Build & Management

Our social team created a Twitter account to promote life in the Wren Tech Team and actively grow a following from local tech talent

Activated Employee Advocacy to increase social reach

We developed an employee advocacy program to help encourage employees within the existing tech team to share positive employer brand insights to their existing networks

Created engaging blog content

We created unique blog content to champion the Wren employer brand, give candidates an insight into the culture at Wren specific to the tech team and marketed this through targeted social campaigns

Branded jobs to boost tech association

Our team ran an extensive branded jobs campaign across tech job boards including CW jobs, to help drive visibility of Wren as a employer of choice in the Yorkshire tech scene

The Outcome (3 month campaign):
